Abstract The wear tests are conducted on bending punches deposited with PVD CrN and AlTiCrN coatings using the newly proposed progressive die. Then, surface quality of formed product is characterized through roughness measurement after forming TRIP1180 steel sheets. correlation between tool wear, in terms depth can be quantitatively analyzed. results show that remains comparable to as-received before failure occurs, which represents smooth without severe scratches defects. While micro punch have no effect surface, fretting leads a deterioration quality.
